No doubt I’ll get bored of it soon enough, but I’ve got an Associated SC10 now. Bought as a roller with a Spektrum servo, and got stuck into it. :good:

Couldn’t stand the stock paint scheme, so I jumped on the energy drink bandwagon…but din’t want to go down the obvious Monster route. Hence, ‘Relentless’ decals flying through the post:

So, once it was all purdy looking, it was time to get it nicely dusty! In went a Speed Passion GT ESC, an LRP X10 10.5 motor and my trusty 3800Ma Orion LiPo, and off to the local club I went.

Oh lord, it was soooooo much fun! The thing was leaned over at like 40deg angles, it flew like Superman, and the tyres screeched on tarmac, and the mudflaps controlled nice rooster tails on dirt and gravel outdoors. Indoors, it was awesome, still leaned over and the tyres howling!

Only a few, as it started making a horrid noise and had one wheel drive. Thinking the worst, I was already pricing up a new diff, or idler gear, even a whole new gearbox as I took it apart. After spending half an hour working out what needed to be removed for the gearbox to come out, I got to the point where I was holding the gearbox in my hand before thinking – sod it. :D I didn’t have any spares and I hate taking somethng apart when I can’t sort the problem there and then, only to take it apart days later.

So I threw it back together, and the noise had gone! A lot of small to medium sized gravel and stones had come out, so I assume one had gotten between the diff outdrive and the chassis? Ahh well, by the time I’d done that, it was too dark to see properly. But the seeds had been sewn, and people where saying ”Cool, I want one” or ”Thats awesome, where can I get my own?”. After loaning my transmitter to a few guys, it turns out that they weren’t empty comments. Phil and Jack North bought one each, Chris Antcliffe was refinancing his collection to get one, and Luke Young is searching high and low.

In the meantime, I’ve decided to change the body and wheels and tyres…..and chassis, and gearbox etc for a cleaner one.

Seriously, no, I’ve bought CarlShenton’s SC10 as I want to kickstart the class at my local club, and everyone I’ve spoken to and have let driven my Relentless truck have said they want one…so maybe I can sell it on? If not, I’ll keep it as spares…not that anything will break, the SC10 is a tough cookie!

More than likely, it’ll be sold.

Couple of vids of Relentless (not me driving, dodgy phone cam etc…):

And a couple of nicely blurry pics :
